The BORG31 rim brake-only wheelset is the perfect all-rounder. A wider semi aero rim (24mm at the brake track) paired to BORG hubs makes a reliable all year round do it all set of wheels. Train on them race on them even go shopping with them (my commute/shopping bike with pannier uses these wheels).
The wheels are laterally very stiff, leading to them feeling very repsosnsive.
The rim is 19mm internal width, and the minimum tyre width is 25mm mounted and inflated (that is different to saying a 25mm tyre, as the real tyre width depends on the tyres bead to bead distance and the rim's internal width).
Soft brake pads like Koolstop salmon pads are best if you're using these wheels in wet weather.
The spokes used are Sapim CX-ray in the front wheels and Sapim CX sprint spokes for the rear wheels. , and black alloy nipples are used unless you ask for silver brass. A 20 spoke front wheel and 24 spoke rear is offered.
The rims are tubeless tyre compatible and will have tubeless tape fitted. The wheels are compatible with non tubeless tyres also. Tubeless valves will be supplied as well
The hubs used are BORG wheels 2:1. The front hubs has NTN bearings and is normal rim brake front hub the rear is more special. It uses NTN bearings but the lacing is 16 spokes drive side and 8 spokes non drive side. This allows a higher than normal tension balance and, given the flange spacings from the hub centreline, a very latterally stiff wheel results.
Shimano 8/9/10/11/12 speed , Campagnolo 9/10/11/12 speed and XDR 12 speed freehubs are available.
